The full circle thoroughbred experience

We have three racehorses in training at present for members to follow. Myfanwy’s Magic is racing Under Rules, plus new girl Passing Affair and Glenmount in point to point.

We have plenty of fun days out at point to point and National Hunt racing!

We also have a broodmare who has been at Claire Hart Equine for the past three years and is part of the ‘Apple family’ who have a long association with Claire and her race riding career. Her 2023 filly foal is by Planteur and we will follow her journey as she grows throughout this year and beyond. For more details on our ‘foal to racehorse syndicate’ see our syndicates page.

We aim to provide as much online interest and as many days out as possible throughout the year with our horses, even if we don’t have club runners on racedays. It is also our goal to keep expanding the stable of horses if membership allows.

Myfanwy's Magic

2017 Brown Gelding

Sire:Mr Medici (IRE)
Dam:Lady Myfanwy (GB)
Dam’s Sire:Sir Harry Lewis (USA) (14.8f)
Breeder:Paul and Myfanwy Miles

Myfanwy’s Magic (stable name Magic) was bred out of winning supermare Lady Myfanwy who won 30 and was placed in 25 of her 62 point to point races. She and Claire enjoyed many highlights and successes together during Claire’s race riding career. Lady Myfanwy also won 5 and was placed in 7 from 29 runs over fences under rules and we are seeing her son has some of her stamina and star quality – he certainly has her spark and jumping ability! Magic arrived for backing and early education as a 4 year old in 2021 and spent the winter and early spring doing lots of schooling and getting race fit (that’s him on the home page video). The warm spring weather wasn’t on our side and we ran out of time with the ground to run by the end of the 21/22 season, though he learned lots and had earned a break. He has currently been in training since January 2023 – including a summer break – with Martin Keighley. He had two very promising bumper runs and then six equally encouraging runs so far over hurdles. He stunned us all at Warwick in November 2023 running a very close 2nd over 2 miles and running on impressively for another 2nd nearer his ideal trip at Hereford in February. We know we have a very promising handicap chaser on our hands. He is the most genuine boy who stays all day long. We are confident he will win races and look forward to going over fences next season.

2018 Bay Gelding

Sire:Court Cave (IRE)
Dam:Zaffarella (IRE)
Dam’s Sire:Zaffaran (USA)
Breeder:Miss J A Buchanan

Glenmount (stable name Tony) was our new boy for 23/24 and in training with Julie Wadland. We’ve gone into joint ownership with Julie on this lovely gelding from Ireland, bought out of Irish p2p last May, he’s well bred out of Zafarella by Court Cave. He ran in Ireland with similar form to Lagan Valley, who Julie brought on for a brilliant season in 22/23, being placed in two and winning three of his races for Wadland Racing. Glenmount started back in work in August 2023 following his summer break, Julie has worked her magic on him and done a fabulous job. We were all delighted when he ran a blinder on debut at Larkhill in November to come a very close 2nd and he has since gone on to delight us with another 2nd and two wins so far in the 23/24 season. We’re thrilled with how he is developing, considering he still has some learning to do – a very exciting Club horse who no doubt will continue to reward us.

passing affair

2017 Bay Mare

Sire:Passing Glance (GB)
Dam:Astral Affair (IRE)
Dam’s Sire:Norwich (GB)
Breeder:Mr Peter Pritchard

‘Peggy”, is a 6 year old Passing Glance mare who is running in point to points for the Club in the 23/24 season. Her dam came 2nd in a bumper at Chepstow for Pete Pritchard. She came to us late for breaking, through no fault of her own, so her debut was in January 2024. She is in training with Justin Brotherton over near Broadway. Justin is very happy with her progress and has great facilities where he is for p2p training. Peggy jumps for fun and despite her relatively small stature she is tough and loves her work at home. We think she’s definitely got potential and we call her the Pocket Rocket! Her first run didn’t really tell us that much, she was not happy in the mud and was a bit stage-struck. We are waiting for the better ground for her to run again soon and it will be interesting to see how she gets on.

Rosemary Russet

Sire:Midnight Legend (GB) (13.2f)
Dam:Apple Days (GB)
Dam’s Sire:Sovereign Water (FR) (17.2f)
Breeder:Mrs F Marriott

Rosemary Russet (stable name Rosie) retired from racing in 2020 and is part of the ‘Apple Family’ bred by our friends the Marriotts near Chipping Norton. She was a bumper winner and placed numerous times over hurdles and there are plenty of shining lights in her close relatives and the progeny of Midnight Legend and Passing GlanceStrongbow’s Legend, Dabinett Moon, Mr Scrumpy and Glimpse of Gala to name a few. She has proved to be a brilliant mum and has previously produced two lovely Passing Glance foals, Ronnie Russet in 2021 and Roxy Russet in 2022, Ronnie has started his 3yo education with Claire and is now backed and ridden away – he is a gorgeous boy, owned by Howard Posner, and we have high hopes for him. Rosie’s 2023 filly foal is by Planteur (pictured), for whom we have a Foal to Racehorse Syndicate for members with a reduced early buy-in fee for 2024, please see the syndicates page. Rosie was not in foal in 2023 and will go to Ocovango this year, we hope for another nice foal next spring.
