Two Mile Oak Abbotskerswell Open National Hunt Flat Race (Category 1 Elimination) (GBB Race)

It was a different Magic who turned up at Exeter compared to his debut at Hereford. This one was calm and professional and looked like he knew what he was about. First into the parade ring, running without hood and nothing seemed to faze him. The race was a hot bumper with a field of 15 including 4/5 £100k plus horses and several previous winners.

There was little early pace and Harry was forced to keep Magic rolling along with just daylight ahead near front on the outside, with plenty of bumping in the first few furlongs. Magic maintained position well until the final bend and was ridden along from 3f out, being pushed out wide, tiring as the pace picked up in the final 2f. The leading group pulled clear with the hot favourite winning for the third time on the bounce. Harry and Magic enjoyed a little battle on the run in with stablemate Spice Boy, Adam Wedge on board. Magic kept galloping again well to the line, showing us the staying promise we needed to see.

All very pleasing and we look forward to schooling and a hurdling debut before stepping up in trip next season. See Harry’s feedback below, all very positive and Martin was well pleased. Thank you to Martin and Sian who had magic looking fabulous and think it’s safe to say we have a racehorse!
